From start to finish, the design process is, as we have said, a collaborative effort
between the client and the design team. For those prospective clients new to this
arena, we have prepared an outline of the steps in the design process. Keep in
mind that the planning stages are among the most important steps. As in almost
any endeavor, thorough planning is necessary to create a successful website. Your
contribution to the project will be a major factor in the success of your website. You
may find it helpful to review our Getting Started page as
a guideline to help you gather the materials for your website content.
-
Collect the notes you made on your preferences for your website design.
Include color preferences, text styles, layout preferences, and links to
several websites that demonstrate your preferences.
-
Make an outline of the subjects to be covered on your website pages. Include
a list of the main pages and any supporting pages that may be needed. For
example, a website might include an index (introductory) page, an "About Us"
page, a "Services" page, and a "Contact" page. To "flesh out" the Services
page, there may be several other pages, each devoted to a different service
provided by the business. We will build your website based on this outline.
-
Using your outline, gather or compose the written materials for the text
content of each page of your website. Make notes of any special text
formatting (bold, italicized, underlined) for the text. If this is printed
material we will mimic the text formatting as it is presented, unless
you specify otherwise.
-
Gather copies of any logos, photographs, and graphics that you wish to
be included on your website. Convert them to digital format if possible.
If not, we can convert them for a modest fee.
-
If you want to have a page of helpful links for your visitors, you must provide
the URL's of the websites you wish to be linked from your page.
-
To request a quote, you must complete our Price Quote Request
and send us all your materials. We will quote a price for the project after looking
over all your materials and preference notes as given through the request form.
-
Once we have received and analyzed your materials, we will send you a price quote
via email. The quote will contain details of what will be included in your website design
package. Any additions requested after this quote is accepted will be added to your final bill.
-
Upon your acceptance of our quote, we will give you a date upon which your
project can be started. We require a 50% deposit prior to beginning your project.
Depending on our schedule at the time, your project may be started within a day
or two of receipt of your deposit.
-
We will build your index page and upload it temporarily to our server. The images,
layout, text styles, etc. will be the same or similar on all the pages of your website.
On this first evaluation, you will need to examine the page design and make a list
of any changes, additions or corrections that you want done.
-
When we have received your list, we will make the changes and upload your entire site.
Now it it time for your second evaluation. Review your website, and send us a list of any
adjustments that need to be made. We will then make these adjustments.
-
We will then upload the completed website for your final approval. Make a list of any
minor adjustments that are needed.
-
After the final adjustments are finished, we will prepare an invoice and send it to you.
When your final payment has been received, we will upload your website to your server,
set up any scripts you have requested, and send you a complete copy of your website
in zip format.
-
If you want us to submit your website to search engines, directories, etc., we will begin
doing so after your website is uploaded to your server and your domain is propagated.
